PRODUCT DETAILS
TENGRI pro adventure saddlebags are made as a result of years of experience in traveling long distances on rugged terrain, and generous input from numerous fellow riders we met along the way. Our adventure saddlebags are designed specifically for RTW motorcycle travelers, to carry all their stuff on their exciting journeys through the most remote areas in the world.
During the development process, we insisted on details we found to be most important for an adventurer embarking on a transcontinental or RTW journey: to be waterproof, super functional, extremely durable, abrasion resistant, minimalistic, and big enough to take everything you need for months spent on the road.
You won’t find any bling on our saddlebags, only rugged functionality, and a heavy-duty approach, specifically tailored for a passionate overlander.
We already tested the design riding through Mongolia, Georgia, and Pamir Highway, and it performed extremely well. It’s enough to say that a single pair of our saddlebags survived all three of those expeditions without any structural damage whatsoever.
We are strongly committed to labor ethic. All TENGRI pro saddlebags are handmade by craftsmen with life long expertise in the field. We support and cherish traditional craftsmanship, which Serbia is famous for.
TENGRI pro saddlebags are made of double layered waterproof ballistic nylon fabric. They provide extreme durability in terms of wear and tear, and abrasion resistance in case you constantly ride through difficult sections dropping your bike frequently, even at higher speeds. The polyurethane coating on the inside of each layer of the fabric ensures your stuff will stay dry.
With it’s 35+ liter capacity each in the main compartment, they are huge, but once you pack everything inside, and tighten it with the metal cam buckle straps, they act as a compression bag, reducing the size, and pressing everything tightly together, making your luggage much less prone to damage if you drop your bike.
The sheer size of it enables rider to carry loads of luggage, and to set the weight low by placing heavier equipment on the bottom. There is one more pocket on the inside of each saddlebag, which can be used to store a socket set case or similar items. Two additional non-waterproof pockets with lids on the outside of each saddlebag can accommodate 2.5 liter bottles of water or oil each, or other items, which you need easy access to such as shoes, flip-flops, or a rain suit.
When the weather goes bad, you can just grab the dry bags with your stuff, without taking the wet and muddy saddlebags into your tent or accommodation. This layered approach proved to be the best from our experience: the double layered ballistic nylon fabric on the outside provides extreme durability and waterproofing, which enables you to use even the thinnest and the lightest dry bags to keep your stuff compact and moisture free, since they don’t need to be made out of thick and expensive materials to withstand abrasion and abuse.
TENGRI pro adventure saddlebags can be mounted on any motorcycle equipped with a side luggage rack. Two wide reinforced velcro straps enable you to adjust the width according to your motorcycle. They also hold the saddlebags in place as you fill them up, until you finally secure them by compressing them to the luggage rack using cam straps.
This way the straps take all the weight, and the saddlebags become one with your motorcycle, capable to withstand even the hardest riding you can imagine, without any free play whatsoever.
The stitch pattern on all four accessory pockets allow the cam straps to pass behind the pockets horizontally, across the length of the saddlebags, to enable quick access to the things you need fast, without opening the main compartment. In case you carry some heavy items in the pockets, such as bottles of oil, spare petrol, etc. you can always place the horizontal straps over the pockets, and around the whole bag, adding even more structural integrity.
TENGRI pro saddlebags also have integrated strap guides on multiple points. When you want to open the bags, you just loosen the straps without taking them completely off, move them out of the way, and open the saddlebags. When you’re done with packing, fling the straps back into position, and just tighten them by pulling on the loose end. The guides will always keep the strap in an ideal position, and save you some time and effort.
Mounting them on your bike is easy and quick, no special parts or tools are required. All you need is to have a standard luggage rack on your motorcycle. You just put them over your bike, adjust the velcro straps according to your motorcycle, pack your stuff, tie it down, and you are ready for another exciting day.

TENGRI pro adventure saddlebags are designed to withstand the harshest riding conditions imaginable, and to take you to the end of the world and back, for years to come. In order for them to fulfill their mission, we kindly ask you to follow the instructions below.
Our saddlebags are designed to be used with any standard hooped luggage racks such as the Touratech or Metal Mule units. You can use them on any kind of luggage rack as long as there are no sharp edges or hard case mounting kit previously installed. In such a case, remove all the hard case mounting kit parts, and trim off any sharp edges to prevent premature wearing of your saddlebags.
There are two straps variable in length using velcro, passing over the top of the seat area. Make sure to adjust them according to your bike’s width in such a way that the bottom of the straps, where they connect to the main body of the saddlebags, align with the top of horizontal bar of the luggage rack hoop.
Please note that velcro straps are designed only to stop the panniers from swinging around, keep in general contact with the side racks while packing your stuff, not to support the entire weight while riding.
Once packed, the entire weight of your luggage is taken from the velcro straps to the metal cam buckle straps. There are multiple strap guides located on the bottom and top of each side of the saddlebag. We advise you to use them in order to make your everyday packing and unpacking faster and easier, as the guides help you in a way that you don’t have to take the straps completely off, but only fling them aside to open the saddlebag.
After you are done with filling up the saddlebags with your items, roll the top down, close the plastic buckles, and tighten the loose end of the straps running through the buckles to compress the luggage. At this stage make sure the saddlebags are aligned symmetrically, and that the bottom of the straps, where they connect to the main body of the saddlebags, aligns with the top of the horizontal bar of the luggage rack hoop.
Our saddlebags are designed to be used with 1 inch metal cam buckle straps tied around the entire bag and then around the frame. Apart from holding the entire weight, they compress the luggage making it smaller, denser, and much less prone to damage in case you drop the motorcycle.
We strongly advise you not to put fragile items in the saddlebags like tents, electronics, or cooking gear, to avoid damaging them in case you drop the motorcycle. For such items, a tail bag is a much safer place, in our experience.
Please use the two vertical straps at all times, especially if you plan to ride demanding trails.
There are slots behind the pockets at the front and rear faces of each saddlebag that allow a horizontal strap to pass through. Use the third strap if you carry extra weight in the external pockets (i.e. fuel, oil, etc.) to further add to the weight distribution, safety of your luggage, and to prolong the life of your saddlebags.
Using all three tie straps with each saddlebag ensures you can pack them fully, carry extra fuel, and enjoy riding your motorcycle on any kind of terrain without fear of damaging the saddlebags or your luggage.
Depending on the type of racks you are using on your motorcycle, make sure that the saddlebags do not come in contact with any part of the exhaust system. If you use them semi-full, we advise the use of plate stiffeners to keep the shape of the bags, preventing them to pass trough the hoop, thus coming in contact with the exhaust. You can use the inner pocket on the inside of each bag for placing the stiffener plate.
1.
Q: Do you ship the product with some kind of inner bags?
A: At this moment we are developing dry bags specifically for TENGRI pro saddlebags. We want to make them 100% waterproof, thin, light, and in different colors, so you instantly know what’s where when you open the saddlebag. You can expect those to show up on our web site in the future.
2.
Q: What kind of straps do you suggest for securing the bags to the rack?
A: Our saddlebags are designed to be used with 1-inch metal cam buckle straps. You can get them in almost any motorcycle store, or order them online. They are a very cheap and effective solution.
3.
Q: Do you provide cam lock buckle straps with the product?
A: We thought about it for some time, and decided that it is better for our customers if we don’t. The first reason is that the price of shipping would go up dramatically because the weight of the package would fall into a higher shipping category. It would be much cheaper to get the straps in your local motorcycle shop or online. The second reason is that everyone has their own preference concerning the properties of the straps. The only thing you should pay attention to is the width of the straps our saddlebags are designed for (1 inch). Everything else is up to you.
4.
Q: Do I need stiffeners to keep my bags from going trough the luggage hoop when they’re not fully packed?
A: Stiffener plates are the only one way to keep the bags from touching the exhaust parts when not fully packed. One more way you can achieve this is using add-on plates for pannier racks made by Perun Moto: http://www.perunmoto.com/collections/ktm-690-enduro-enduro-r/products/add-on-plates-for-pannier-racks
5.
Q: Do you send the bags with stiffener plates?
A: There are a few reasons we decided not to do that. Depending on your rack construction, and your motorcycle, there can be lots of differences concerning the size and shape of the stiffener plate needed, plus it would add to the cost of shipping, so we figured: it’s better to spend the money on your travels, than on shipping something you can easily find or make locally.
6.
Q: Is there a way to attach the bags to the lower part of the luggage racks?
A: Yes, there are four tags on the bottom of the saddlebags, which enable you to do that. We strongly advise you to check the position of the lower part of the bags in relation to the lower part of the hoops of your luggage rack. In case the bottom of the saddlebags hangs too low, there is a great probability that the tags will be ripped off once the bags are filled and there’s some force applied.
One way to check this is to fully load the bags, then try to use the tags, and look at what happens using your common sense. In case the construction doesn’t allow it, do not use the tags to avoid ripping them off, potentially damaging the bags themselves. You won’t lose anything by not using them.
7.
Q: Can use them on my 2015 BMW GS, and on my DR400Z?
A: Yes you can, provided you have hoop style luggage racks installed on both bikes. Velcro straps that go over the seat enable you to adjust the width according to your motorcycle, no matter how wide it is.
8.
Q: Do you ship to Australia, and what’s the cost?
A: We ship worldwide via DHL (except Russia), and via Serbian Postexport service. The latter is cheaper, but it takes about a month to get to any part of the world. DHL is much faster, safer, and a little more expensive option. You can find all info on “SHIPPING INFO” page on our website.
